Area churches offer vacation Bible schools for youth

If you plan to enroll a child in one of the many vacation Bible schools this summer, following is a summary of the many themed camps being offered by area churches.

JULY

Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 1 Race St., Union Township, will host “PandaMania …Where God is Wild About You” July 25-29 from 9 a.m.-noon for ages 3 through entering fifth grade. Kids explore a bamboo forest filled with crazy pandas as they discover that God loves us. Kids participate in Bible-learning activities, sing songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into yummy treats, experience electrifying Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s love, and create Bible crafts. Each day concludes with Rowdy Wrap-Up, a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Calvary Church, Route 202/31, Ringoes, is hosting “Faith Expedition: God’s Treasures Revealed” July 11-15 from 9 a.m. to noon, for ages 3-8, with a closing program for all on July 15. There will be Bible instruction, music, skits, recreation, crafts and snacks. To register, call 908-788-3840.

Clinton Presbyterian Church, 91 Center St., will offer “Shake it up Café” July 11-15 from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 4 through fifth grade. To register, call 908-735-5029 or visit clintonpresbyterian.net.

Clinton United Methodist Church, 12 Halstead St., will host “PandaMania, Where God is Wild About You” (Psalm 139) Monday through Thursday, July 18-21, from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 3.5 years and older through sixth grade. All are welcome to experience God’s powerful presence in their lives through recreation, theater, crafts, music, snacks and missions. A closing program and ice-cream social is July 21 at 7 p.m. Cost is $20/child or $40/family. Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main St., will host “PandaMania: Where God is Wild About You” the week of July 11-15 from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 4 through those entering sixth grade. Learn Bible stories, make crafts, sing songs, enjoy skits and play games to build faith. Cost is $20/child. Register at the church office or for more information call 908-782-3227.

The heart of the matter

The Journey Back: WFW Psalm 37:4

.  As I have made an effort to read and study God's word more.  I have begun to pray before I read and ask him to help me to understand.  To help me get what he wants me to get out of the scriptures that I read.   And, as I strive to have a closer relationship I have realized that many times I run around during the day doing 'things'.  Most well intentioned but most days I am doing what 'I' think needs to be done.  Good well intentioned 'thing's but not necessarily the things that God wants me to do.
