Fun heats up this weekend

Second Friday

On Friday at 6 p.m. the North Penn Community Network, in partnership with the North Wales Borough Business Alliance, introduces Second Fridays to North Wales.

Second Fridays is a free event for all ages, which includes musicians in concert, games and activities, and other outdoor entertainment.

This month’s theme is centered around soccer and will feature Philadelphia Union’s Mobile Marketing Tour along with several local soccer clubs. Philadelphia Union will bring their Mobile Marketing Tour which is a fun-filled unit consisting of the PPL Soccer Kick, where you can test your shot accuracy. Philadelphia Union’s promotional team will also be in attendance with free Union giveaways and promotional material.

Hit the streets

Skippack Village is hosting its Summertyme Festival on Saturday, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place at 4059 Skippack Pike, Skippack, with entertainment in the Rodeo Drive lot. Vendors, crafters and children’s activities are planned throughout the day. For more information call (610) 584-6004.

Batter up

On Saturday, the Phillies Home Run Derby will be making its 41st annual visit to Towamencin Township at Fischer’s Park, 2225 Bustard Road, Towamencin. The contest is open to all boys and girls ages 7 to 12. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and official entry forms will be available at the field on the day of the contest. The derby is organized by the Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company.

The big top

Plumstead Fire Company, 5064 E. Stump Road, Plumstead, presents the Kelly Miller Circus at the firehouse at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday and at 2 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets in advance are $10 for adults, $6 for children ages 2 to 11, and children under 1 are free. At the door costs are $15 adults, $7 children, under 1 free. Drink up

An Alex’s Lemonade Stand will be set up at The Goddard School, 100 Farm Lane, Doylestown, on Friday as the kindergarten class will be selling beverages from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The class has set a goal to make $300. To learn more visit www.alexslemonade.org/myspace/73102 or call (215) 345-4121.

Four corners

If you enjoy bingo, head to the Souderton Fire Company, Second Street, Souderton, on Saturday at 6 p.m. to win door prizes and enjoy refreshments. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person. For more information call (215) 721-3167.
