FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (AttorneyNewswire.com) — June 21, 2011 — A hit-and-run driver that killed an 89-year-old woman was arrested on March 8, 2011. The driver was 27-years-old. She was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident. The victim was 89-years-old.

The accident happened in the 1900 block of North Flamingo Road. That address is in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The hit-and-run driver was driving a 1996 green Isuzu Rodeo. The Isuzu hit the side of the victim’s car, a 2002 bronze Chevrolet. This occurred while the Isuzu was changing lanes. The impact caused the victim’s car to cross over the median in the road. Eventually, the victim’s car hit two trees on the opposite side of the road.

The victim was brought to Memorial Regional Hospital. On the same day, police got a lead on the victim’s Isuzu. They saw her car on surveillance footage from a nearby gas station. The surveillance footage was taken minutes after the accident.

The day after the accident, police found the Isuzu. That helped them link the crime to the 27-year-old woman. It took police 16 months to collect enough proof to arrest the woman.
