GSXR 750L1 + the new Snetterton 300 circuit = trackday heaven in Norfolk

Snetterton race circuit is boring right? Nope. Not any more. The Norfolk racetrack has been completely revamped over the winter months with the addition of a new twisting infield section, completely transforming what was previously a fast but slightly tedious circuit.

We wanted to find out what the all-new track is like to ride, so we took along one of the finest track-focused bikes - Suzuki's GSX-R 750 - (thanks Suzuki GB) and headed to Norfolk to give it a go.

And who better to show us round than BSB star rider, Samsung Crescent Racing's Jon Kirkham. Here are a couple of laps of the all-new 'Snetterton 300' circuit on board with JK.

The new circuit is perfect for all levels of rider. Heading out on the brand new GSXR 750 L1 the new track is immediately more interesting and fun to ride than the previous 'loop'. What unfolds is a real riders track - one which feels as though it's been designed with bikes firmly in mind.

The corners flow smoothly into one another, but the track is wide enough for a variety of fast lines, meaning that there are plenty of places to pass and also room for error while you're learning the track.

The Club MSV track day that we were on was really well organised. There was a clear briefing at the beginning of the day; lots of instructors and marshals on hand and even free classroom sessions throughout the day that all riders could attend to pick up tips about the best way to approach the circuit to get that perfect lap.

Having ridden most of the UK's circuits as well as some of Europe's finest, including Portimao in Portugal and Magny Cours in France - I'd put the new Snetterton 300 circuit firmly in my top 3 all-time favourites. The new infield section has even got a similar in feel to Qatar's multimillion pound International circuit at Losail - quite an achievement.

But no doubt part of the reason for it being such a sublime experience was down to the bike I was on. The last GSXR 750 I tested (the K7) was so good that I ended up buying it. With my own money. It's the one in picture above, on the right. That was 4 years ago and strangely I was expecting the 2011 model (the one on the left) not to be able to live up to my expectations of perfection. In the same way that perfect holiday can never be replicated, no matter how much extra money, upgrades or bells and whistles you add.

But I was wrong. Looks aside (personal preference) the GSXR 750 L1 is even better than its predecessors in all areas. Now with switchable power mode, on-board lap timer, slipper clutch, Showa Big Piston Forks and an engine that's somehow pumping out another 10bhp over my K7, the 2011 GSXR 750 has got to be close to sportsbike perfection. Handling is pin sharp, the brakes are brilliant and the engine is a real gem. I want one. If you ride one, the odds are that you will too.

FUEL INJECTION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION: Congratulations on your purchase of the Fuelpak Fuel Management System for fuel injected Suzuki GSX-R600 / 750 motorcycle. Please take the time to read the entire instruction manual before attempting to install. DO NOT adjust the Fuelpak until you have thoroughly read the instruction manual and the unit is fully installed. If you have questions, please call (562) 921-0071.

SUMMARY: To achieve the optimum performance from your application, it is recommended that you install a high performance air filter in conjunction with this unit. The Fuelpak will be installed in-line the factory injector wiring harness and the throttle position sensor. The Fuelpak will be tucked under the seat next to the ECU with the cables routing to the left side of the motorcycle.
